City of Westminster College and the College of North West London have announced their intention to merge with a vision to deliver the highest quality education and training opportunities for students and employers across West and Central London, and beyond.
 
Both colleges see real benefits on which we can build to ensure even greater collective success; and to make our shared vision for a world-class skills offer for London a reality. 
The ambition is to create a new college group which provides the highest standard of education and training and gives the broadest  choice for students and employers.
 
The merger will be one of equals and both colleges will keep their well respected college names and identities. To satisfy legislation one corporation must first ‘dissolve’, and be transferred to the other for this merger to proceed. After thorough analysis, a decision has been made to dissolve the Corporation of the College of North West London. The merged college will have governors from both Corporations on its new Board. This date for completion will be 1st August 2017, the start of the new academic year.
 
There were a number of financial and legal factors which offered an advantage in retaining the Corporation of City of Westminster College. Governors are committed to retaining both colleges’ names as well as maintaining and developing the operations on their current campuses.
 
The Chair of City of Westminster College, Nick Martin, said: “At the heart of the merger is the commitment for each college to work together towards meeting the Government’s ambition of higher level technical and vocational skills and education, including the potential establishment of Institutes of Technology. This will ensure West and Central London has the Centres of Excellence the Capital’s economy needs.”
 
The Chair of the College of North West London, Judith Williams, said: “We are committed to future aspirations and ambitions of our staff and students which will be realised by becoming one college."
