Business Development organise SIA Licenced Job Fair

Last week our Business Development department, in partnership with Jobcentre Plus, organised an event for CWC’s SIA Security learners. Several employers including SecuriGroup (one of Scotland’s largest security companies), Kings Knight Security Group (a well-known close protection company) and IRC Security were in attendance at the event where learners were given the opportunity to speak to employers to find out the skills they needed to procure a job in the industry.

CWC’s Business Employability Coordinator Ododo Ediagbonya said, “The majority of people who attended the event had gone through either our Door Supervision, CCTV or Close Protection courses. The reason for holding the event was to enable our learners to speak face to face with the people that they’re applying to for jobs. Employers in Security see so many applications that as someone new to the industry it can be hard to get that first interview and get your foot through the door; by getting the learners in front of employers, they could demonstrate the skills they had gained from the courses."

"One of the organisations we work with called Community Solutions have been working with an organisation who are looking to employ 100 security and stewarding staff and they guaranteed everyone who registered their interest on the day a telephone interview which is a major opportunity for our learners," added Ododo. "It means that there are least 150 candidates of the 350 who attended who are definitely going to have an interview of some kind following their attendance at the event. It was really well received and we got a lot of good feedback from the organisations who attended and from the candidates too.”
