As a result of the Richard Review (2012), the way that apprenticeships are funded and run will be changing in April 2017. The Government has identified a critical need for new technical and professional skilled workers as there is a huge skill shortage across the UK. This has resulted in an enormous target to get 3 million apprenticeships started by 2020 and has involved mass changes to the apprenticeship system.
The Government has recently released more information clarifying and confirming some aspects of the apprenticeship reform including Apprenticeship Standards, the Digital Apprenticeship Service, the Apprenticeship Levy and quality assurance. Employers register on the Digital Apprenticeship Service using their Government Gateway ID and PAYE details.
Levy information can be viewed on the DAS with the amount available to spend shown.
Levy comes into effect. The first payments will appear in the digital account just before the end of May for the April payroll.
