City of Westminster College is proud to have presented an array of creative final projects by hundreds of students across our Creative & Digital Industries courses this month
Students and staff from Art & Design, Media, Computing, Music and Performing Arts have presented gigs, plays, awards and exhibitions on campus, welcoming students and staff from across the college and invited guests to share their work with.
For their final projects across Creative & Digital Industries, students at CWC are empowered and encouraged to incorporate their own lived experience and interests into their work, this year projects have included everything from 3D design through VR to sustainable theatre projects.
Students and staff have worked together in close collaboration, with Media students supporting each area with state-of-the-art video and photography capture. The season started with Performing Arts giving us shows about the refugee experience, climate change and morality. Actors collaborated with artists to create set pieces, an exciting step forward in cross arts collaboration. Then, the Music students gave us two culturally rich shows that ranged in content from J Pop to Carnival and from radio plays to Bond themes.
There have been exciting collaborations across the departments, all of which was on display at the Art show. Themes varied from religious journeys to the study of bacteria. The Media department held their annual student awards ceremony as part of the Art show, and audiences were able to view students’ showreels. Music & Performing Arts students performed too, adding to the celebration of collaboration. This year, led by a student initiative, there was a photobooth, collaborative painting activities and a knitting workshop. This was a powerful addition to the event that created a welcoming interaction between guests and artists, and was another way to expand our creative community.
Bilal Bobat, Interim Vice Principal said, “Our annual end of year exhibition and events for the Creative & Digital Industries have showcased the many talents of our students within the field. These events and the wider student ethos within the Creative & Digital Industries have showcased the art of possibility; it has been an amazing celebration of our students’ ability to create, innovate and inspire!".
