Maida Vale Supported Learning Students Lead Inspiring Autism Awareness Stall

City of Westminster College celebrated World Autism Acceptance Month in April, which aims to strengthen awareness and drive support for autistic people everywhere. As part of this, students studying Learning for Work and Skills for Work within the Supported Learning Department at Maida Vale Campus ran a vibrant awareness stall on site with help from speech and language therapists and college staff. There was an immediate buzz around the stall thanks to the hard preparation from students to drum up excitement. This included taking cake orders in advance and creating a series of handmade posters to advertise the event ahead of time.

On the day, the stall was decorated with eye-catching infographics about autism. This interactive display invited everyone to share their thoughts on “what makes you special” which nurtured reflection and inclusivity across the college community. The students proudly sold badges, bookmarks, and cupcakes to raise money for the National Autistic Society.

The event was a fantastic showcase of the students’ teamwork, creativity, and commitment to raising awareness and acceptance of autism. A big thank you to everyone who supported and participated!
