These qualifications are designed for advice and guidance working professionals within all sectors. The qualification has 5 mandatory and a choice of optional units to accommodate your specific job role.

Mandatory Units

  • Develop interactions with advice and guidance clients
  • Manage personal case loads
  • Evaluate and develop own contribution to the service
  • Operate within networks
  • Understand the importance of legislation and procedures

Optional Units (selection)

  • Support clients to make use of the advice and guidance service
  • Assist advice and guidance clients to decide on a course of action
  • Prepare clients through advice and guidance for the implementation of a course of action
  • Assist clients through advice and guidance to review their achievement of a course of action
  • Advocate on behalf of advice and guidance clients
  • Liaise with other services
  • Enable advice and guidance clients to access referral opportunities
  • Provide support for other practitioners
  • Undertake research for the service and its clients
  • Design information materials for use in the service
  • Provide and maintain information materials for use in the service
  • Identify and promote the contribution of Careers Education Guidance (CEG) within the organisation

How will I learn?

Candidates are supported with regular meetings and blended learning. The NVQ Centre is flexible in its approach to delivering training programmes. The sessions can be delivered in your company or at an alternative venue.

How will I be assessed?

The qualification is holistically assessed which means that the optional units chosen by the candidate will be assessed alongside the mandatory units. In practical terms this means that when planning and carrying out assessments the assessor will ensure that as many units as possible will be covered.
