Why did you choose to study T Level in Laboratory Science at City of Westminster College?
I chose this T Level because I’ve always been passionate about science and I wanted a course that combines both theory and real-world experience. It stood out to me because it prepares you directly for a career in the science industry, which is exactly what I’m aiming for.
Can you tell us about your placement at the NHS Pathology Lab at St Mary's Hospital? What was a typical day like?
My placement was an amazing experience! A typical day involved receiving and sorting samples, entering patient data, and making sure everything followed strict lab procedures. It was hands-on and made me feel like a real part of the NHS team.
What new skills did you develop while working in a real NHS laboratory environment? How did it tie in with your studies?
I developed strong attention to detail, teamworking skills, and confidence using lab systems and equipment. It linked perfectly with my studies because I could apply what I learned in class directly in a real lab setting, which helped me understand everything much better.
What are you most looking forward to in your new apprenticeship?
I’m really excited to continue learning in a real work environment and develop my skills even further. I’m especially looking forward to gaining more responsibility and growing into a professional in the science field.
What advice would you give to other students considering a T Level in Laboratory Science?
Go for it! It’s such a rewarding course that gives you real experience and sets you up for your future. Stay focused, ask questions, and make the most of your placement. It’s an incredible opportunity.
