How to make the most of your time at CWC

College is the perfect time for getting involved in new and exciting activities – whether that be clubs, sports teams, becoming a student ambassador working alongside enrichment or a member of the student council. These opportunities give students the chance to meet new friends and get involved in different areas of College life, all of which look fantastic on a CV or in a personal statement when applying to university.

Volunteering at College events is a great way to get experience on a UCAS application or CV. Students will get to interact with members of the public, prospective and current students and members of staff. Another way to get the most of out of your time at CWC is to attend the various events held throughout the year. The College holds HE Fairs twice a year which universities from across the UK are invited to attend for those considering moving on to Further Education as well as Careers Fairs which in the past have been attended by big business including Barclays, Earnest Young, the Police Force, Fire Brigade and Army.

The College has a dedicated Sport Maker who co-ordinates and manages all aspects of CWC’s Enrichment sports programme, offering sports for those of all levels and abilities; from recreational activities, right through to organised competitive sports. As well as enabling you to meet new people and improve your health, taking part in sports also helps you to develop important transferable skills including respect, discipline, hard-work and sportsmanship.

We also have a dedicated Work Experience department, who will work with you to help you gain the best placement possible. It’s compulsory for all 16-18 year old students to secure work experience and our Work Experience (WEX) room is located on the fourth floor at our Paddington Green Campus, where you can sign up to opportunities as they become available. Learners are also encouraged to find your own placements, with previous students having worked at Santander, Boots, BUPA, John Lewis, London Basketball Association and The Conrad London St. James Hotel.

Our Freshers’ Fair is taking place on Wednesday 26st September from 12pm – 2pm on the Ground floor of our Paddington Green building, where students will be able to sign up for a variety of activities and clubs at CWC.
