All 16-18 year-old students at City of Westminster College will follow a full-time Study Programme. Here Craig Hanlon-Smith, Deputy Director of 16-18 Programmes explains what that means.

Our media courses specialise predominantly in Television and Film. Main topics covered include Moving Image, Single-camera Production, Multi-camera Studio Production, Digital Editing, Factual Programming, Single-camera Drama and Critical Approaches. Additional units for study may include Audio, Radio, Animation and Photography.

We offer a range of Levels so that you develop your academic and practical skills while we work with you. We aim to support you in achieving your career aspirations by ensuring you are confident, well-informed and able to solve problems creatively. Our ultimate aim is to prepare you ready for the next step, whether that be in Higher Education or employment.

Throughout all of our courses we will embed employability skills and support you in applying for further study or employment. We work in partnership with a range of external companies, which can provide individual work experience opportunities and whole group work-related projects. Recent projects have included producing Awards Ceremonies within the College and for external partners. The media team have an excellent working relationship with Westminster Council and, as such, have provided them with Corporate Videos and, more recently, were afforded access to document the Westminster Mile, working alongside professional journalists.

Within the College we have dedicated TV and radio studios and Mac editing suites. You will be taught by an experienced team; many of whom continue to work in the Creative Industries and others who continue to further their knowledge through advanced level research.
