Student wins role of Official MOBO Blogger
City of Westminster College A-level student Natalie J. Sofolarin, is one of three winners of the National Skills Academy for Creative & Cultural Official MOBO Bloggers Challenge.

This national competition offered students from the Skills Academy’s 20 Founder Colleges the chance to become official bloggers on MOBO’s legendary music website MOBO.com. In order to win her own blogspot, Natalie, 19, from Lambeth, had to submit four original pieces of writing, including two music reviews.

As part of her prize, Natalie will get a profile on the MOBO.com site, as well as the opportunity to contribute to news stories, music and live gig reviews and profile pieces. She will also have support from the existing MOBO Bloggers team, get behind-the-scenes exposure to leading music industry figures and receive press passes to major music events, including the annual MOBO Awards in October.

Natalie has just completed her A-level exams in Theatre Studies, Sociology and English Language & Literature and has a place at University of Westminster in the autumn to study Public Relations. Natalie says: “I have always loved writing and started my own blog – although I haven’t had much time to work on it recently. I did quite a lot of research for the reviews. For the pieces profiling me and describing why I should be Official MOBO Blogger, I just wrote from the heart. I’m delighted to have won this prize – it’s a great opportunity to develop my skills.”

City of Westminster College Principal Keith Cowell says: “This is an excellent initiative by the National Skills Academy and MOBO and we are delighted that Natalie impressed the judges so much that she has been awarded one of the three coveted Official Blogger to MOBO.com roles.”

City of Westminster College provides specialist training in theatre and performance – including behind-the-scenes and technical roles – and is a Founder College of the National Skills Academy for Creative & Cultural, a network that links training providers and industry specialists to ensure career-ready employees for the creative industries.
