Seymour Art, The Homeless Art Collective, stage their second public exhibition
City of Westminster College is delighted that Seymour Art, a collective of artists who are or have been homeless, will stage their second public show ART MINE at Subway Gallery from Friday 10 September-Saturday 25 September. This will be preceded by a private view at the gallery on Thursday 9 September.

Seymour Art is a collective formed by a group attending a City of Westminster College art course run at West London Day Centre. The collective staged their debut selling show at Patrick Heide Contemporary Art at the beginning of January 2010.

The title ART MINE was chosen by the group because it conjures up notions of value, precious material and, of course, being underground. Created in the basement of a homeless day centre, the art has travelled less than a mile to be displayed in the underground space of Subway Gallery.

Work on display is in a variety of media, from oil paint to digital montage, and represents the extraordinary life experiences gained by each artist. The artists themselves – ranging in age from their 30s to 70s – are united by a shared love of creating, distributing and promoting art.

The exhibition takes place at Subway Gallery, Kiosk 1, Joe Strummer Subway, Edgware Rd/Harrow Rd, London W2 1DX. Tel: 07811 286503. Open Mon-Sat 11am-7pm. www.subwaygallery.com.
