The school that rules
On trend, on time and on budget – the New City of Westminster College gets full marks, said Kieran Long (Architecture critic) for the Evening Standard.
The new design could prove a crucial catalyst for Paddington Green. The College is the strongest sign yet, of regeneration touching the estates either side of Edgware Road.
The article went on to say:
“To enter the college is to experience a pulsating public building, full of life since it opened in January, with students of all ages arriving and departing, shuttling between lessons, drinking coffee and generally using the place with intensity. Between 3000 and 4000 students aged 16 and over are educated here, with academic routes from basic literacy to degree-level learning. The diversity of available courses is astonishing, from academic subjects to nursing qualifications, from apprenticeships for car mechanics and sports scientists to theatre technicians. Cramming the quite different spaces required for each of these activities into a single building has been the challenge for the architects”. Read the full article here
