New Chair of Governors for City of Westminster College as Jude Boardman MBE steps down
Stuart Taylor is the new Chair of Governors of City of Westminster College. He succeeds Jude Boardman MBE who is stepping down after 10 years as Chair.

Stuart, a qualified accountant with an MBA, was formerly a director of a multinational in the construction materials field and his expertise is in governance, risk and control. He has been a Governor of the College for the past five years, serving as Chair of the Finance & General Purposes Committee and member of two other committees. He is actively involved with several charities, serving on the audit committees of the Institute of Cancer Research and Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust.

Stuart says: "I am honoured to be elected Chair of Governors for City of Westminster College. The College has always offered great opportunities to young people and adults, and the new Campus offers a superb environment to nurture the aspirations of students. I look forward to contributing to the continued success of the College."

Jude, who joined the Board in 1991, was awarded an MBE for services to Further Education in London in HM the Queen’s 2010 Birthday Honours List. She has worked to widen participation in education and training and under her leadership the College transformed its estate, culminating in the opening of the £102m Paddington Green Campus in January. The new Campus has won a 2011 RIBA Award and is now on the shortlist for two other prestigious architectural prizes.

Jude Boardman says: “It has been a pleasure and a privilege to lead the Corporation through this most exciting and challenging period. I know I am leaving a College with clear and ambitious strategies for its future and firm values that place the student at the heart of everything we do.”

City of Westminster College Principal Keith Cowell says: “We are delighted to welcome Stuart Taylor as the new Chair of Governors. He brings a wealth of experience to the role and is a committed advocate for Further Education and the vital part colleges play in developing career and life opportunities and strengthening the wider economy.

“On behalf of everyone at the College, I would also like to express my profound thanks to departing Chair of Governors Jude Boardman. Jude has been an extraordinarily hardworking and effective Chair. Not only has she worked tirelessly to increase opportunities for learners and strengthen links within the community, but she has also been instrumental in developing the College itself. Jude leaves the College in a strong position, and with the enduring legacy of an outstanding Campus – a building that quite simply inspires everyone who studies, works or visits.”
