Lisson Grove Nursery was given a facelift recently when City of Westminster College students designed and painted murals on the walls of their playground. Students on the College's Prince's Trust Team programme undertook the Community project as part of their course, which also includes team building exercises and fund raising. Team Leader, Paul Mullins said 'I've been impressed with the commitment they've shown towards the community project, the pride they have in the work done is obvious and I'm equally proud of them. I hope they perform as well for the rest of the programme'.
The students met with the toddlers and collaborated with them to design the murals. Playground organiser, Norah Curtis commented 'The toddlers are really pleased with the murals. Their favourite picture is the castle, I watch them creeping up to it as if they are going to go through the door of the castle. I think they think its real'. Chris Tsirigotis, aged 17, joined the course in April, he said 'This project has exceeded my expectations. It's been much better than I thought it would be. I've even managed to attain a two week placement working with the 2012 Olympic project'. The 12 week course leads to a City and Guilds qualification.
