LONDON TRAINING DYNAMICS -CONSORTIUM LAUNCH
Nine public and private training providers officially launched their Train to Gain Consortium Partnership at Westminster Council Chambers on Friday 11th May 2007.
London Training Dynamics is a Consortium led by City of Westminster College, working with Portobello Business Centre, Joskos, North West London Online, Construction Learning World, Working Men's College, London College of Communications, South Thames College and Westminster Adult Education Institute. They have worked together since last summer to pool their expertise to provide business solutions for employers who want to train their staff.
The Launch was attended by partners, employers, employees, Learning and Skills Council colleagues and other organisations. Special guest, Karen Buck, M.P., addressed the audience, giving her full support for the work of the Consortium and stressing the real need for a more skilled workforce in London.  Speaking directly to employers, she stated:
"This Consortium is a really good initiative. There has to be a willingness from employers to both look to develop the skills in your current workforce and to develop skills in work to local people"  She added, 'You have an opportunity here to bring those people on through using the skills and collaboration of these training providers"
London Training Dynamics has successfully worked directly with employers and with Skills Brokers - London Brokerage Consortium, Triangle Fusion and Prevista - to find out business training needs, agree training programmes and find suitable funding. To date they have delivered training to a wide range of industry sectors, including hotels, community organisations, hospitals, construction companies, transport and security.
Debbie Stroud has really benefited from the Train to Gain programme. Debbie, who works as a  Volunteer Project Co-ordinator at Brent Association of Disabled People told the audience how good her experience had been when she undertook I.T. training with North West London Online.  "It's such a good thing to get this kind of training. I now use I.T. packages with confidence, because I'm so improved. The tutor was really helpful, and understood exactly what I needed"
