Identity - Moodle Prize giving
On Wednesday 5th May City of Westminster College held an awards ceremony to celebrate the successful student entries for the 2nd Moodle Competition. The competition centred on the subject of Identity and what it means to our students, in celebration of diversity and the use of Moodle as a communications medium and College resource. Entries could be submitted in any form as long as they could be loaded on Moodle and the contest inspired a variety of creative submissions ranging from poetry to art work.

A total of 17 entries were received in what proved to be a popular competition. From these, 7 entries were shortlisted into a final pool and:

Shakiib Abdi Abukor, 18, a C&G NVQ For IT Users (ITQ) Level 1 student was announced as the winner

The 7 shortlisted students were selected by members of the e-learning group and two students (Tishaena Green and Mukky Nnoruka). Votes were counted from both staff and students and all votes were casted and recorded directly through Moodle.

Shakiib Abdi Abukor entered a text piece outlining his identity. He explains where he is from, what he believes in and the things in life he enjoys as well as inspirations close to his heart that have contributed to his sense of responsibility and desire to contribute to his society.

The level of student participation in the competition demonstrates the significance of Moodle as a useable College resource and serves the student body by cultivating a sense of community and belonging while emphasizing the importance of student input.
