Goodbye to Kate Jervis
After almost 30 years’ service at City of Westminster College, Kate Jervis is relocating back to Scotland for a well-earned retirement.

Kate began her career working in the Library. She says: “The Library was central to the College and was used by every department, which made it a really enjoyable place to work.”

In those days the College had a piano in the staffroom for impromptu sing-alongs during breaks – and Kate remembers the cooked hot lunches and waitress service in the staff dining room particularly fondly!

After 20 years working in the Library, Kate decided it was time for a change and when an opening came up at the NVQ Assessment Centre for an Administrator she decided this was the job for her. It’s a decision she has never regretted. “I’ve loved every minute of my time here. Every day is different and you help so many people progress.”

Kate has seen many positive developments in Further Education over the years, but she is particularly impressed with the opportunities that the College’s new Paddington Green Campus will bring to students. She says: “I have toured the new building and it is absolutely awesome - so well planned.”

Kate is moving to the Scottish coast, close to where she grew up, and is planning a busy new life. “I describe this as: ‘the next bend in life’s road’. The years pass so quickly and now I’m looking forward to taking time to explore, get involved in the local community – maybe I’ll even finally learn how to play the piano.”

Kate will be missed by her many friends and colleagues at the NVQ Assessment Centre and across the College. We wish her all the best for the next exciting phase of ‘life’s road’.
