Opening the 'dreaded envelope' put smiles on the faces of our A and AS Level students (and their equally anxious tutors), as they received the results they wanted, needed... or hadn't dared dream of.
It's been an outstanding year for A and AS Level results at City of Westminster College - testimony to the hard work of our students and high teaching standards of our staff.
Over half the A Level courses run here at the College - including Accounts, Economics, English Literature and Law - had 100 per cent pass rates. A further four achieved passes in excess of 90 per cent. The pass rate at AS Level was also high. Six courses had 100 per cent pass rates, and a further five had over 90 per cent pass rates.
STUDENT SUCCESS STORIES
Waiting in line to receive their results was a tense affair, but for many students there was plenty to celebrate. Click on the names below for some of our College high achievers.
Jayan George
After health setbacks meant he had to drop out of education, Jayan (known as 'G') has finally won a coveted place at Peninsula Medical School, Plymouth. Now 22, he resumed his studies with City of Westminster College at 19. "After I was diagnosed with epilepsy I couldn't study for a while. This was the only place that believed in me. I've so much to thank the College for."
'G' has worked full time as a Practice Manager at St Mary's Hospital throughout his studies - making two his 2 As and one B at A-Level, plus AS Level Physics, an even more impressive achievement.

Adetoun Adele
With As in Politics and Law and Bs in Sociology and Psychology, Adetoun has the A Level grades she needs to start her Law degree at SOAS (The School of Oriental and African Studies at University of London). "The tutors here have been really great and I'm delighted with these results - especially the Law grade."

James Akajioyi
With A grades in Biology, Chemistry and Maths and a B in Physics, James is well on the way to winning a place at medical school. While cramming for four A-Levels, he's also found the time to fit in GCSE English. "I'm delighted with my results. Now I'm having a gap year before I return to my books."

Sandra Isibor
Sandra turned down a family holiday in Nigeria, staying home in Southwark because she was so desperate to know her results. It was worth the sacrifice because with three straight As at A-Level, plus top marks in AS Psychology, she's one step closer to a place at medical school. "It was a lot of hard work but worth it!"

Mark Stewart
After leaving school with no qualifications, Mark made the tough decision to try again and joined City of Westminster College as a mature student. Now he has three A Levels under his belt (one A and two Bs) and intends to study dentistry. "I came to the College because I wanted to accomplish something in my life - to know what I'm capable of."
Esther Afolabi
Two grade As and a B at A Level have been a stunning achievement for Esther, who only came into the UK education system at 15 after her family relocated from Michigan to London. "I have never studied so much. It's different - and much harder here than in the US. I'm really happy with my grades. Now I can start applying for physiotherapy training."

Titus Murphy
Titus Murphy got more than he'd bargained for when he opened his A-Level results envelope. With three straight As, he has exceeded his own expectations. "I've already got a place at Bristol to study physiology, but what I've always wanted to do is study medicine. I may take a year out and do some voluntary work before re-applying."

Frances Abomeli
Four AS Levels (including two As) mean Frances is on course for success and will return to complete her studies here next year. "I want to go on to study medicine - I've already signed up for voluntary work at a hospice in North London."
Anna Seabrook
Anna's two Bs in the new Health & Social Care AS Level course offer her the opportunity to move into a variety of careers. "Originally I wanted to go into nursing but I decided to study this Double Award course to keep my options open."
Ruwaida Begum
Ruwaida (known as Taniya) has four AS Levels - including As in Chemistry and Maths - putting her on course to achieve her ambition of studying medicine. "I hope to get into one of the London medical schools when I finish here."
