Employability skills workshop give students an insight into building career opportunities
City of Westminster College students benefited from an Employability Skills Workshop with ten executives from global management consulting firm PRTM.

The 20 Foundation Learning Tier students, who are based at the College’s Queens Park Campus, were visited by senior executives from PRTM - which provides strategic guidance to leading organisations and has 19 offices around the world.

During the session, PRTM executives provided advice on personal and career goal setting, reviewing and improving CVs and overcoming barriers to employment. Community Studies Lecturer Rina Mistry also hosted an icebreaking ‘truth or lie’ competition – challenging both the executives and the learners to use their powers of persuasion to convince their audience.

City of Westminster College Employer Engagement Coordinator Barry Coleman says: “This was a highly productive and worthwhile experience for all involved. It was a great opportunity for our students to meet senior industry people and find out how to engage with potential employers – and what makes a CV or interviewee stand out from the crowd. And one of the PRTM executives told me that he will adapt his own coaching and mentoring style, after what he learned from talking to our students during the Workshop.

“We would like to thank the team from PRTM for giving their time and engaging so wholeheartedly in inspiring and mentoring our Foundation learners.”
