There was a distinctly businesslike flavour in the College’s Cockpit Theatre, as students donned suits and ties and hosted a professional networking event.
The Year 2 BTEC National Diploma in Sport & Business students were on an assignment about presenting and communicating company information at business-to-business events such as trade exhibitions. Working in groups of three, they had designed and created stands to present information about two chosen companies.
Another essential part of the assignment was networking and communication skills, so with the exhibition stands set up they welcomed their delegates - Year 1 BTEC Sports & Business students. The Year 1 students had their own assignment, which was to complete worksheets using the company information they gathered from stands and company representatives.
The event was a great success – especially as Year 2 students had even prepared refreshments for their colleagues in the year below!
Educational Partnerships Manager Anna Cook said: “Both groups looked and acted very professionally and the assignment covered criteria for a whole business unit. Students displayed presentation and communication skills and used project management techniques to prepare for the event.”
