City of Westminster College BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art & Design graduate Harry Allington Wood is among the Merit Winners of the Fujifilm Student Awards 2011 in association with ChooseFilm.com.
Harry, 22, from Hackney created a stunning series called Reflections Works, shooting in black and white with Neopan 400 film. The brief for this year’s Fujifilm competition was ‘Senses’ and his winning shot represents the sense of touch.
Harry has a particular interest in photography – and in particular shooting film, rather than digital, images. He chose the BTEC Level 3 because the two-year course develops knowledge and technical skills and allows students to specialise in Animation, Fashion/Textiles, Interactive Graphics or Photography. Harry says: “I heard about City of Westminster College from a friend and chose to study here because it was the only college I could find that had proper darkroom facilities. I’m taking a break from study now to focus on my own projects. I am moving towards portrait photography, but also have other interests – including animation.”
City of Westminster College’s highly regarded Visual Arts courses, include Art & Design, Creative Media Production and Design & Digital Media. It also offers specialist Foundation Degree, HNC and Access to HE Diploma qualifications in Photography. The College’s Paddington Green Campus benefits from excellent workshops and studio facilities, including double-height photography studios with adjoining darkroom facilities.
