City of Westminster College Chair of Governors Jude Boardman attended an Investiture Ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday 13 October to receive an MBE for services to Further Education in London.
The MBE, which is in recognition of Jude’s contribution to City of Westminster College and the local education landscape, was announced in the Queen’s 2010 Birthday Honours List in June.
Jude joined the College’s Board in 1991, becoming Chair of Governors in 2000. Committed to widening participation in education, Jude has championed increased opportunities for all. She gives particular support to the College’s highly successful Prince’s Trust programme for disadvantaged young people and maintains close links to creative arts and theatre provision at the College.
Jude has successfully steered the visionary redevelopment of the College’s estate - the centrepiece of which is the new world-class £102m Paddington Green Campus. The Campus opens in January 2011 and will support the College’s growing range of vocational and academic courses, as well as providing extended and enhanced community-access facilities.
City of Westminster College Principal Keith Cowell says: “Jude plays a vital role in the life of our College. She is also a tireless ambassador on our behalf and a passionate advocate of the power of further education to transform lives”.
