CWC’s Teacher Training programme ranked in the top 5% Nationwide

City of Westminster College’s Teacher Training programme has been ranked in the top 5% of the National Success Rates Table, being placed 11th out of 218 institutions. The statistics, published for the 13/14 academic year emphasise the growing success of a number of CWC’s courses and provisions. The College’s Apprenticeship provision was recently ranked top in London and the South of England and its Health, Public Services and Care courses were also placed at the top of the National Success Rates Table.

“We’ve had some fantastic feedback from our students and the quality of teaching is very high as you’d expect on a Teacher Training course,” said Pete Sharrocks, Head of Teaching and Training (pictured above). “The staff make a conscious effort to upskill their own knowledge so that they can pass that on to the learners and they work closely with the Institute of Education which is the main Teacher Training provider in London.”

The College has recently added its own full-time teacher training qualification, where trainees are taught at the College, gain a work placement and are provided with a mentor as well as a tutor, replicating the University experience. Pete added, “Our learners come from all walks of life, from teachers wanting to gain a professional qualification, to others who are thinking of undertaking advisory roles such as student advisors, careers advisors, enrichment workers and those in learning centres or libraries. We’ve expanded our offer to include specialist qualifications such as mathematics, ESOL and literacy and we hope to expand it even further to include a qualification for teaching disabled learners.”
