City of Westminster College Black History Month events were a great success. And one of the most inspiring outcomes was that so many students and staff signed up to become donors.
This was as a result of the participation of ACLT (African-Caribbean Leukaemia Trust), which participated in an event organised by the College Enrichment Team, exhibiting on Campus and giving a moving presentation about their life-saving work to encourage more bone marrow and blood donors from among the Black and Mixed Parentage communities and support people living with leukaemia and other blood disorders.
Following the event, ACLT Co-Founder and Director of Operations Beverley De Gale OBE sent a personal thank you to the College team that organised the event and was able to pass on the news that 40 potential bone marrow donors had stepped forward, 35 people had signed up to become regular blood donors and ten people requested that their name be put on the Organ Donor Register.
