'My Westminster' Screening
Over the last three years, the Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) at City of Westminster College has worked with leading employers in the media industry to provide young people from local schools access to the latest digital technology to make films. This project is called ‘My Westminster’.

The work was produced by 63 young people, of mixed ages and abilities from four Westminster Schools:

Grey Coat Hospital School
North Westminster Community School
St Augustine’s C of E School
St Marylebone C of E School

With the support of staff and students at City of Westminster, the young people produced seven films with independent soundtracks. Groups were encouraged to develop creative responses to their environments. Subsequently, the films focus on a variety of issues, but all are specific to living in Westminster. Themes included diversity, congestion, exclusion, wealth and poverty. The work has been screened at local libraries, the Raindance Festival, the Cockpit Theatre and UGC Cinema, Piccadilly.

You can catch the screening of ‘My Westminster’ at:

Westminster City Hall         20th – 23rd February

Paddington Library              24th February – 3rd March

Pimlico Library                     6th – 10th March

Church Street Library         20th – 24th March
