Getting Back to Work

We offer a number of free courses to help you on your way to a fulfilling career. Our programmes are aimed at helping you find work and we can provide you with training in your chosen occupational area as well as job search skills. We also work with you to help you find work experience and job interviews, providing a high level of support to build your skills, confidence and ability to succeed in finding the right job for you. We have a number of general and specialist programmes, including:

Employability Skills Programmes

These courses are for those aged 19+ and receiving Jobseeker's Allowance or other benefits. You must be referred by your Job Centre Plus Adviser. You will then be asked to attend the Employability Centre at Paddington Green Campus for a pre-entry assessment to enable us to determine the right programme for you. The programmes offer help in seeking employment and provide assistance with: English for work, reading and writing, speaking and listening, maths, numeracy and confidence. They also includes job search skills, CV writing, interview techniques, work experience and use of phone and internet for job seeking.

Specific Skills Support Programmes

If you are aged 19+, unemployed and receiving Jobseeker’s Allowance these courses are designed to assist you to return to work by developing specific industry skills. Programmes available include Security Training (Close Protection, Door Supervision & CCTV), Call Centre training, Retail, Customer Service, Business Administration, Hospitality training and Food Hygiene training. As part of these programmes you will also develop general employability skills, helping to build your confidence in an interview situation.
