City of Westminster College offers both DTLLS and PTLLS courses for those wishing to undertake teacher training.

DTLLS

The Level 5 Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS) is the teaching qualification developed particularly for the full teaching role in further education. It prepares trainee teachers for a wide range of contexts. The qualification meets the requirements of the Further Education Teachers Qualifications (England) Regulations 2007. In order to gain full qualified status, teachers need to complete Qualified Teaching Learning and Skills (QTLS), through Professional Formation, on completion of their DTLLS.

PTLLS

The Level 4 Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) is an introductory teaching qualification. It prepares learners for teaching and training in a wide range of contexts and does not require learners to be teaching whilst taking the qualification. PTLLS is also available at Level 3, the purpose and content of the course is the same as Level 4. The qualification meets the requirements of the Further Education Teachers Qualifications (England) Regulations 2007, and achieving it will provide sufficient evidence that an individual has acquired the necessary skills and knowledge to teach beyond an initial year in the FE sector.
