What does it include?
- There are ten units to complete:
- Working safely in Engineering
- Developing skills in making engineered components
- Developing skills in using a drilling machine
- Developing skills in electronic assembly
- Developing skills in wiring electrical circuits and components
- Developing skills in routine servicing of an electrical/ electronic system
- Starting work in Engineering
- Working in a team
- Interpreting and using Engineering information
- Engineering marking out
What do I need to get onto it?
You need to have an interest in Engineering and a minimum of 3 GCSEs at grade E or above in Maths, English and Science/Technology. All applicants will be interviewed.
The Interview and application process
All applicants will be interviewed and will given initial assessments in literacy and numeracy.
How is the course assessed?
Your progress on the course is assessed using College-devised assignment work.
Where does it lead?
This course will give you basic skills in Engineering. It can lead to further study on the BTEC L2 Diploma In Engineering (Electronics) or provide you with a certificate that can gain you entry to work.
Where is it based?
In workshops, IT rooms and classrooms at the College.
