What does it include?
The course covers a variety of common and technical areas within the field of Information and Computing Technology.
To achieve a full pass students must complete 18 units by adding to those units achieved through the Subsidiary Diploma in IT Level 3.
Some of the subjects areas include:
- Computer Gaming Software
- Networking
- Introduction to Software Development
- Website Management
- Communication Technology
- Business Information Systems
There will also be units where you will study business calculations and communication skills. The course is assessed on a combination of coursework, in class tests and external assessments.
What do I need to get on to it?
You will need a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C (or above) or GNVQ Intermediate at Level 2 with a Merit or Distinction and have completed the Subsidiary Diploma in IT with at least 8 units. You should also have Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy skills and experience of using ICT.
Where does it lead?
The course is an advanced course equivalent to 3 ‘A’ levels. The student can go straight into work as a junior IT user, or progress to a degree course at university or onto the college's BTEC HNC level 4 course.
