Who the course is for
The Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector at Level 4 provides the basic minimum standard for all those entering the teaching, learning and development profession. Achievement at Level 4 confers threshold status to teach. The award is appropriate for teachers, tutors and trainers who may be working within an FE college, Adult and Community Learning Centre or Learning Provider and for those delivering work based training such as within voluntary, community, private and public organisations.
What will I study?
The award gives you an introduction to teaching and explores roles and responsibilities associated with the teaching role. The planning and delivering of sessions including engaging and motivating learners and establishing ground rules within a learning environment are covered. It explores the different assessment methods and the need for record keeping.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through course work, the delivery of micro-teaching and self evaluation
What qualification or experience do I need to get on the course?
You need to demonstrate Level 2 in Literacy and be qualified in the subject you wish to teach. No prior teaching/training experience is required.
Where does it lead?
The PTLLS qualification can be used to transfer forward into the Certificate or Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS OR DTLLS)
