Low tuition fees, small class sizes, a vocational style of learning, no or very few exams, links with employers and a central London location...
City of Westminster College offers a range of Higher Education and training options for students who wish to move on to the next level of study through a Further Education College. Courses include part-time and full-time modes of study in BSc Honours, Foundation Degree, BTEC Higher National Certificate and Diploma and Level 4 Apprenticeships and professional qualifications in some subject areas. If candidates do not have the relevant qualification or experience, the College offers a range of courses at Level 3 (including BTEC Diploma, Access to HE Diploma and A-level courses) to prepare them for Higher Education.
We now offer a range of new courses in subjects including Applied Biology, Computing Systems Development, Health & Social Care, Sport & Sport Science, and Travel & Tourism Management. The College has close links with employers to ensure that our vocational courses give you the skills and experience to progress into employment within your chosen industry. The College also has a progression agreement with local universities, enabling our students to enter their final year of a Degree programme after the completion of a Foundation Degree or Higher National Diploma with us.
The college also has a well established and growing Education and Training Department. Courses on offer range from Level 3 Preparatory Awards in Education and Training to top up qualifications (L5 Additional Diplomas) for qualified teachers wanting to specialise in ESOL / Literacy.
In addition, the college also offers generic, initial teacher training qualifications on both a part-time and full-time basis - Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (formerly DTLLS). The full-time course is offered at half the cost of most University courses and comes complete with a teaching placement and mentor. For students wanting to follow a specialist pathway there are optional modules in literacy, ESOL, and working with disabled learners, which can be taken as part of the course in order to gain a subject specialism.
Our Progression Pledge
Our students enjoy their time here at City of Westminster College so much that they don’t want to leave us! This is partly why we have introduced new HE courses and we are planning to expand our offer. If you successfully complete your Level 3 (with ABB or equivalent grades), our Progression Pledge guarantees you the offer of a place on an appropriate Foundation Degree/Higher National qualification here at City of Westminster College (subject to a satisfactory interview, reference and application).
Affordable HE Courses
Our HE courses are more affordable than you might think. With nothing to pay upfront, you will only have to pay back your tuition fee loan once you’re earning a minimum of £21,000. So, for example, if you were earning £22,000 per year the repayment on a tuition fee loan might work out at just £7.50 per month.
