What the course includes
The qualification is aimed at those who wish to acquire the basic knowledge of first aid, whether it be a requirement of work or not. On completion of the course, students will have the skills that may save the life of a person prior to the arrival of the Emergency Medical Services.

- Role of a first aider & HSE Legislation
- Understanding accident management
- Problem solving
- Action plans
- Priorities of life
- Life threatening conditions
- Initial casualty assessment
- Recovery position
- Non breathing, adult choking
- Non breathing adult CPR
- Bleeding slight/severe
- Wounds- embedded material
- Understanding shock and shock treatment
- Cuts, grazes, bruising and splinters
What you need to get on to the course
There are no formal entry requirements. However, we will require payment in full prior to commencement of the course.
How the is course assessed
The award is achieved by passing a multiple choice examination and a physical assessment.
Where does it lead
You will receive a certificate in Emergency First Aid awarded from the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH).
