Who is the course for?

This course is for 16-18 year olds who are interested in different types of media, textile and graphic design and is designed to help you to improve your English language skills.

What does the course include?

You will complete taster vocational units for courses that are offered at a higher level at the college in media and graphics, the taster units include:

  • Developing media skills
  • Graphic design
  • Printing
  • Working with digital images
  • Textile design

The course will also include Functional skills in:

  • English
  • Maths
  • ICT

You will also receive:

  • 1-2-1 Tutorials
  • Career advice.

How is the course assessed?

You will have to produce a portfolio of coursework for your vocational work this will include written and photographic evidence.

Functional skills will be assessed with an exam.

What can Learners do after completion of the course?

This course will also prepare you to progress onto Courses at Level 1 or 2 in the future, depending on your achievement throughout the year. An excellent tutor recommendation on your attendance, punctuality and behaviour is also taken into account.

What is needed to get on the course?

You will be interviewed to see if you have an interest in creative arts and in developing your English skills. You will also need a good reference from school, connexions or employment. You will take an English and maths assessment and to get on the course the results from the assessments should be:

  • Low - Entry 3
  • High - Entry 2
