What does the A-level include?
We follow the Edexcel Fine Art endorsement, which is defined in the specification as ‘work which is produced as an outcome of the student’s personal experience, rather than for a practical function or tightly prescribed brief. You will develop your painting and drawing skills in a variety of media, explore different practices and learn how to convey your ideas visually and in writing using a specialist vocabulary.
In A2 you will complete coursework and exam, again working from set themes, concluding in a 12-hour practical exam over 3 days.
How will I be assessed?
The Edexcel exam board offers a coursework component and exam following set themes, concluding in an 8-hour unaided practical exam over 2 days.
What qualifications do I need to get onto the A-level?
Apart from the general entry criteria for A-levels, you must have grade C in GCSE Art or Art-related subject or a portfolio to be presented at interview
What else can I study?
English, Media Studies, Psychology and History are particularly good combinations.
Where can this course lead me?
This course will lead you toward a career path in the creative arts, but it can compliment many other career aspirations
