Who is this course for?
The fast track programme is intended for people who require GCSE English Language in order to progress to degree or postgraduate courses. If you are in a position to start a course in September, you should do so. Applications for this course will not be processed until November.
What does the GCSE include?
The course aims to improve your skills in writing, reading and oral communication.
You will read a range of texts, including fiction and factual material, and have practice in writing in a range of different styles. Attention will be paid to developing your spelling, punctuation, vocabulary and grammar. You will engage in discussion, debate and delivering individual talks.
What do I need to get onto the GCSE?
You must already have a D in this subject, or be able to demonstrate a high level of competence in written English.
What type of assessment is used?
You submit a coursework folder, and sit two written examinations. Your oral work is assessed continuously over the course.
