What does the A-level include?
You should have a passion for the French language and culture. You will look at the news, publicity, and have discussions, talks and interviews in French. You will learn to write letters and articles. The AS includes: improving your reading, writing and listening in French. Homework will be set throughout the course.
How will I be assessed?
We follow the Edexcel exam board. All assessment is by final examination. The AS examinations will include listening, reading and writing.
What qualifications do I need to get onto the A-level?
Apart from the general entry criteria for A-levels, you should have GCSE Grade B or above in French. If you do not have any formal qualifications, but do have a French background or a reasonable knowledge of French you may be assessed as suitable for the course by one of our lecturers.
What else can I study?
Humanities and social sciences can combine well with French.
Where can this course lead me?
This course will help your application to university and add weight to your desired course. It is particularly useful in careers that involve travel and international relations.
