What does the A-level include?

Listening, reading and writing in Arabic. Looking at news and recent publicity, as well as having discussions, talks and interviews in Arabic. You will learn to write letters and articles. Homework will be set throughout the course and based on some current affairs.

How will I be assessed?

All assessment is by a final examination. The AS assessment includes: listening, reading and writing.

What qualifications do I need to get onto the A-level?

Apart from the general entry criteria for A Levels, you must have Grade B in GCSE Arabic or pass internal college assessment.

What else can I study?

The course will suit any applicant to the college as it is timetabled as one evening (twilight session) per week. If you are adding Arabic to your A level programme, you should be studying three other A levels as this subject cannot make up part of your full time A Level programme. You could be doing another full-time course in the college. We do welcome applications from part time students as well.

Where can this course lead me?

This course is particularly useful for those who will deal with the Arabic speaking community. It is a useful language to have and carries UCAS points for university entry.
