Will the course give me what I want?

Course content

The BTEC Level 3 Diplomas are broadly equivalent to two/three GCE A Levels. The programme aims to provide students with an in depth understanding of the operations and structures of businesses and also to equip students with the skills required to succeed in employment or at university. The course will involve businesses in the public, private and voluntary sectors.

Please Note

Extended Diplomas are delivered as two one year programmes:

Year 1 - Subsidiary Diploma

Year 2 - Diploma/Extended Diploma

Students are expected to satisfactorily complete the Subsidiary programme prior to being considered appropriate for a year 2 qualification.

What have students who have taken this course in the past progressed to?

Students that successfully complete their programme of study could progress onto a Business related degree or Higher National Diploma. Previous Level three students have gone directly into employment in areas of growth in finance, administration and management.

How will I learn?

You will be expected to complete assignements at home and work in class. There are no exams on this programme.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed continually through practical project work, coursework, written assignments, time constrained assignments and through giving presentations.

How much time should I be expected to spend on assignments, projects, field trips etc.?

8-10 hours of self directed study is required for success on the course.

Which awarding body is the course validation by?

EdExcel 

What qualifications or skills do I need to show I have before I can enrol?

For the Extended Diploma: Students would need to have gained a Level two qualification preferably in Business at least a Distinction grade or Six GCSE’s at grade C including Maths and English.

For the Subsidiary Diploma: Students would need to have gained a Level two qualification preferably in Business at least a Merit or at least 5 GCSE’s at grade C including English.

Expected prior knowledge

You do not have to have studied Business before but an interest in the subject is important

English level

 We expect you to have GCSE grade C or an equivalent qualification

Mathematics level

 We expect you to have GCSE grade C or an equivalent qualification

Equipment and other costs

 We would expect you to buy the textbook recommended by your tutor

Fees shown are set against the current year (August 2015 to July 2016) and are subject to change when Government funding changes are announced.

All our full time further education courses (Entry to Level 3) are free if you are 16-18 years old and meet UK residency requirements. Depending on your circumstances, you may also be eligible for financial support to help with other costs associated with your course such as free school meals and travel.

If you are  enrolling onto a Level 3 or 4 course and aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances.
